Upstairs has three bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a spring room and covered back porch, great for bicycle dry storage. Large basement provides more storage (can be used as a root cellar to store veggies and canned goods). There are also numerous outbuildings, including a garage, storage buildings, and barn. Yard around the house is fenced. There is a huge garden space, which you are more than welcome to use for veggies/flowers/etc. Landscaping/mowing of the property is provided and included in monthly rent. Tenants may also hunt on the 20 acres or fish in Sinking Creek, which borders the property. House has been renovated (new roof, efficient windows, rebuilt porch, hardwood floors refinished 2023, kitchen upgrades). Furnace heat. Upstairs bedrooms have air conditioning units. All bedrooms, hall, and living room are hardwood floors. House is not furnished but appliances are provided. Located on Rt. 42, directly across from the ballpark/community center. Due to problem tenants in the past, we want serious inquiries only. Ideally, tenants will have lived in an older rural house previously and understand the nuances of such living and/or are mature and responsible enough to take care of a 100+ year-old farmhouse and abide by rental regulations. Because of damage from the pets of previous tenants, this property does not allow dogs. If you have a dog or are considering getting a dog, please consider other rental options. Up to two cats are welcome with a non-refundable deposit of $500 for each cat. No livestock. Chickens are ok if contained. Proof of steady income and references are required. Security deposit will also be required equal to one months rent. Preference (and a rent discount) will be given to applicants willing to sign a longer lease. This is a really great location as it is only a 10-minute drive to Blacksburg, yet with all the benefits of living in the country.
