We are moving abroad for work for 1-2 years and renting our family home on a beautiful block in Petworth. We are seeking a renter who is looking to sign a 12-month lease, with possibility to extend. The house: Just turned 100(!) but you wouldn't know it. Very well maintained and updated by us and other recent owners. The top floor includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a light-filled bonus space that we use as an office. The main floor is the perfect combo of open-concept and independent spaces, meaning you can easily carry on a conversation from room to room but also aren't on top of one another. Main level also includes a powder room and a bonus space that we use as a play area/additional sitting room. The basement has one bedroom (with a door, armoire, and lots of sunshine), bathroom, laundry, and a large open area that we use as a media room. It's perfect for guests that come to town that want their own space. The backyard is terraced and the usable area is quite small, but sufficient for a family dinner outside! The front porch is a great hang-out spot where we love to sit and relax. Street parking is generally plentiful and easy, though we do have a patch of grass in the backyard that serves as off-street parking if you'd like. The neighborhood/street: One of the top neighborhoods in DC, especially for families. The house is just a few blocks from a great beer bar, coffee shop, several restaurants, a park with huge playground, weekly farmers market, a local gym, historical landmarks (Lincoln's Cottage!), and the Metro/several bus lines (Georgia Avenue/Petworth Metro station is a ~12 minute walk). Both attached neighbors are very friendly and we'll remain in touch with them while abroad. The block is a mixture of families with young kids and folks who have been on the block for multiple decades. Other notes: - We have a slight preference for someone who wants the house entirely or partially furnished (as otherwise we'll be storing a lot of stuff), but understand if that's not you. - We'll be using a professional management company for quick addressing of maintenance issues as we'll be in a different time zone, but will be very reachable for other communication needs. - As this is our family home that we intend on returning to in the future, we're looking for someone who will really care for the space and be a friendly neighbor. - Pets: We're open to a renter with pets, but would like to consider on a case by case basis. - The lease will stipulate absolutely no smoking - If you are interested in the house furnished, we'll be conducting a professional deep cleaning but do want to note that there have been cats living in the home in case you have a severe allergy. Price: $4800, renter pays utilities including water, gas, electric and wi-fi if desired (house is hooked up to Verizon Fios internet already if renter desires to continue that service). Availability: Optimal move in date would be January 1, 2023, though we're willing to be flexible for the right renter. No smoking. Renter pays all utilities.
